Plaque argent g, always fake? Pic

Post by novice » Mon Jan 11, 2016 8:50 pm

Hi. I bought my first Dupont on ebay. I thought I did my homework to avoid fake. But I read on a german ebay fakes guide(if auto translation is correct) that there shall not be plaque Or or plaque argent on original. Mine supposedly 1987 with receipt from Montreal has. It also came with small brown box, brown manual, brown plastic warranty card with a department store stamp. Any thoughts on authenticity? Thanks.

I believe what that guide is saying is that the "plaque argent G" should only be printed on a "silver plated" lighter. "argent" is silver in french.

and "plaque or" should only be on a gold plated lighter. "or" is gold in french

basically, you should only see these labels on lighters that match that description. If you saw "plaque argent" on a gold lighter, you'd know something is off....
